Bay Tal Mal: A Taste of Moro Cuisine

2.pngA Luxurious Moro Cuisine Experience at Zambo!

Zamboanga may be esteemed a conflation of disparate rhythms and cultures. In it sits a vast range of cookery selections and I must swear with the life of me that they do not disappoint.

Now if you’re greeding for food rich in strong aromatics and exotic spices that’s very characteristic of Moro cuisine, you have got to head on over to Bay Tal Mal.

Originally a coffee shop at the outset serving native delicacies alongside its local brews, the joint burgeoned into a full-scale diner after proving to be well-received both by the locals and the tourists.  At present, true to its catchphrase, Bay Tal Mal not only outfits a passing tang but champions moro cuisine and its rich antiquity, living up to its Arabic origin script Bayt-ul Mal which aptly translates to House of Wealth.

As if their sumptuous food offerings are not enough, Bay Tal Mal is made more fetching with its  engaging artifacts you could feast your eyes on. Bay Tal Mal houses musical instruments of indigenous origins such as brass collection and percussion pieces like gong and kulintangan.

The place can fit an estimate of 50 – 80 people.

Although not excessively large, Bay Tal Mal is nothing short of an entrancing scene. Archways fashioned in elaborate layouts, golden table linens and articles  furnish the restaurant with Moroccan touch that tellingly merge native and modern design.

They have Private Rooms for special meetings and occasions.

The Department of Tourism-accredited and Halal Certified restaurant offers  tempting Moro fare with beef kiyaliya, chicken piyanggang and tulah itum as flagship in their aray of eats.

The Tausug rendition of beef cooked in peanut butter, coconut milk and sauce of strong spices and turmeric will relish your gastronomic treat.

Savor this flavorful chicken meat with the requisite Sambal rice kicking it up a notch.
