Sefina’s Bakery and Cafe: Where Cakes Are “Better Than Sex”

EATS IN THE PH. (5)

When it’s just Love and no heartbreaks at all…

You know what’s best about cakes? It is when the right amount of sweetness and a little bit of bitterness are mixed well. But why “Better Than Sex”? You’ll know after you’re done reading this story.

I visited Sefina’s Bakery and Cafe this week, another original cafe at Olongapo City.

It was built out of craze for cakes and pastries of a young man, started as a hobby and and a knack on baking. He then decided to build up his own cafe which he dedicate to his Mom. (If you would only hear the detailed story about his journey of his startup directly from her mom [Sefina], you will be amaze!)

INTERIORS:

The cafe’s interior is very neat and perky, the place is not spacious so it’s a challenge for every owner to put up designs. But with this one, they managed to deck all the murals and designs in the right place. Just look at those green, orange and red birds hanging over the ceiling lights. Nice right!?

The seats are good for 2-4 person. They also have a separate table for 2. 🙂

The other side of the cafe, you can see that there are also seats outside.

They also have a simple gallery wall where they put pictures of their patrons. 🙂 This is like an open space for everyone. They can put their pictures taken on the cafe. (I should’ve put my picture there!)

FOODS:

We have tried few of their specialties and we loaded enough to say we had fun eating! LOL* Here it is. 😀

1
Crispy Jumbo Tacos, 1/4 Pounder Burger and Shrimp Pesto!

1/4 Pounder Burger

Beef patty, creamy cheese sauce, fresh tomato, cucumber and lettuce on a brioche bun!

What we love about this burger is the combo of their beef patty and creamy cheese, the beef is served well done which I personally like and the cheese used is thick and tasty. 🙂

Crispy Jumbo Tacos

Crisp tortilla shell, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & Sefina’s special salsa.

If you’re a fan of veggies, this could be a favorite! There’s just mount of lettuce on this one which some people really like. Not my favorite but definitely a good one, their salsa gives a good compliment with the topped cheese. 😉

Shrimp Pesto

Olive oil, cream, garlic and sauteed shrimp. 🙂

CAKES:

No doubt their cakes are commendable, these are just few of the favorite in the house. Chocolate mousse, strawberry, blueberry, red velvet and carrot cake! 🙂

“Better Than Sex”

The King of all Cakes! The BTS or “Better Than Sex”, is their best seller cake in the house. It is a chocolate loaded moist cake, with thick fillings topped with chocolate bar crushed in pieces. Yum!

Many of their customers are asking, why they named it that way. You will only hear the same answer from them, “Try it  and then tell us why?”. So far, even myself after tasting it, understood why they name it “BTS”. Hahaha

It definitely has to do with the chemical “Phenylethylamine”. wink*

Phenyl Ethylamine is sometimes called “the love drug”, because it arouses feelings similar to those that occur when one is in love. Another neurotransmitter, serotonin, is a mood-lifter, as well. One chemical that causes the release of serotonin into the brain is tryptophan, found in (wait for it!) chocolate.” – www.amanochocolate.com

Still have a question, “Why is it still better than sex?”. Maybe because, eating this cake just gives you that feeling of “love” alone without heartbreaks and all the drama. #bighug #igotyou #hugot
